FA Cup Replays to Return for Fourth Round After Quarter-Final Draw
Mandatory Replays Up to Semi-Finals
Highlights and Goals from the Quarter-Finals
The Football Association (FA) has confirmed the return of mandatory replays for FA Cup games that end in draws, up to and including the semi-finals. This decision will apply for the 2023-24 season.
The FA Cup has traditionally been known for its "one-off" matches, but this change will provide teams with a second chance to secure victory. Replays will be scheduled for games that end in a draw after 90 minutes, with extra time and penalty shootouts used if necessary.
The fourth round of the FA Cup will also feature replays, after which the tournament will revert to one-off matches for the quarter-finals and semi-finals. The winners of the cup will qualify for the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League group stage.
